For sale: An original antique extra large Hsun-Ok Burmese Offering bowl. A Hsun-Ok is a large stupa (top of a temple) shaped vessel used for presenting food to a Buddhist monastery and in the past, to members of the royal family. This example is beautifully lacquered in the traditional orange lacquer made using the pigment from cinnabar. The Hsun-Ok comprises a wide curved bowl set on a waisted pedestal flaring out to a circular foot-ring. Rice, fruit and other foods were placed in the bowl.
The Hsun was crafted from woven bamboo which was then treated with several layers of lacquer. This particular example is all the more rare due to its size.
Its original and in amazing condition. We have owned this for many years and its been a centre piece antique in our living room. Can be separated into individual parts. This is an extremely large offering bowl. It measures 130cm tall and 60cm diameter at the base.
This piece has remained in exceptional condition besides some fading of the colour. A truly beautiful and substantial antique piece for any large room.
Collection only from London NW3. 2 THE LARGE STEEL AND GLASS BOOKCASE SEEN IN THE PICTURES.
