The casing is aluminium, other brass. Been stored inside house and in a draw, entire time of my ownership. I was given this when I was about 10 years old, that's 49 years ago.
A red and a green needle. As of a twin engine World War Two aircraft. The rev range is similar to Spitfire/ Merlin. SMITH & SONS LONDON M.The diameter of it is over 6 inches and the item is heavy. Made by S Smith and Son, the very famous instrument makers. This is a beautiful item that warrants a place in a museum or collection. I have no idea what it is worth, or its use, and I would welcome feedback.
Having done endless research, and being a pilot myself, I cannot identify it. Alternatively it might be from a vintage car; when I was given it, I was also given a Rolls Royce wooden tool box, maybe there is a relationship?
